The Immense Rewards of Gratitude and Patience: Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Guidance on Enduring Hardships
The Reward for Gratitude(Shukr) and Patience(sabr)
(Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that a believer never get loss in any situation. If a believer receives comfort or happiness, he thanks Allah by saying, “O Allah! You have granted me these blessings, I’m grateful to You. And if he faces difficulty, he remains patient.
What does patience(Sabr) mean? It means not objecting to Allah’s decree, not complaining about His decision. One can try to remove the hardship and pray for relief, but they must remain agree with Allah’s will.
For this, they will receive immense reward. As it is stated in Quran:
انما یوفی الصٰبرون اجرھم بغیر حساب۔(الزمر: ۱۰)
(Az-Zumar: 10)
Those who practice patience(Sabr) will be granted a reward beyond any calculations by Allah. The reward is so great that there is no limit to it.
Further, A Hadith mentions that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that on the Day of Judgment(Qayamat), when Allah will bestow rewards on those who were showing patience (Sabr) during hardships, people will wish that their skins had been cut with scissors in the world, and that they had remained agreed, so that they could receive the same immense reward as the patient ones. Allah grants such enormous reward for patience.
