The Eyes Are Amanah From ALLAH (Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that the eyes are also a trust (Amanah), and using them for sinful purposes is a betrayal of this Amanah. If a person misuses their eyes, gazing at non-mahrams with the intention of deriving pleasure or indulging in inappropriate looks, it is referred to in the Quran and Hadith as Kha’inat al-A’yun—the betrayal of the eyes.
What does this mean? The eyes that have been given to you do not truly belong to you; they are not your possession. You didn’t buy them or spend money to acquire them. Did you make any effort to obtain them? When you were born, Allah Almighty granted you various body parts, including your eyes, without any effort or payment from your side. Hence, these eyes are a Amanah from Allah.
If someone entrusts something to you and you use it against their wishes, it would be considered betrayal, and you would recognize it as such. Similarly, the eyes that Allah has granted you are His gift, and when you misuse them, you are betraying the trust of Allah. This is the greatest and most severe form of betrayal—betraying Allah’s trust by misusing what He has provided.
