The Deceptive Pleasure of Sin: Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Insight on True Joy in Avoiding Sin
The Pleasure of Sins is A Deception (Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
The Auliya ALLAH have said that the pleasure of sin is not a true pleasure, but rather a deception of pleasure. They gave the example of a person who suffers from an itching disease. They find pleasure in scratching the affected area. Indeed, scratching provides great satisfaction, but after that pleasure, the burning sensation and worsening of the condition outweigh the momentary pleasure.
In contrast, a healthy person who does not suffer from itching experiences true pleasure. So, who enjoys real pleasure—the healthy person, or the one with an itching disease who finds satisfaction in scratching?
The reality is that true pleasure belongs to the healthy person. Similarly, true pleasure lies in abandoning sin, not in committing it.
The day one becomes aware of this real pleasure, and Allah grants them a taste of it, they will realize what true joy is. When Allah bestows this understanding, life will become enjoyable, one’s connection with Allah will become delightful, and worship will become a source of pleasure. There will be a sense of light in worship. May Allah, with His grace and mercy, grant us all this understanding, Ameen.
