The Collapse of the Family System: Mufti Taqi Usmani on Modern Family Dynamics (Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that Allah had made women responsible for the home, as caretakers, to keep the family system intact. However, when women stepped outside the home, this structure began to deteriorate. Now, the father is outside, the mother is outside, and the children are in school or daycare, while the house is left locked up. The family system is thus collapsing. Women were meant to manage the home, nurturing children in their laps, as the mother’s lap is the child’s first classroom. This is where they learn morals, build character, and understand the right ways to live.
In today’s Western society, however, the family system has disintegrated, with children deprived of parental love and attention. When both the man and woman work in different places, often in a free-mixing society, it sometimes weakens the relationship between them, leading to marital conflicts, the development of illegitimate relationships, and even divorce. Consequently, the home is ruined.
