The Abundance of Gratitude (Shukr): Lessons from Dr. Abdul Hai Arifi’s Teachings (Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that teaching of our Hazrat Dr. Abdul Hai Arifi (may Allah sanctify his soul) was to practice gratitude abundantly, always offering thanks to Allah Almighty. Throughout your day, while walking, sitting, or doing anything, reflect on the countless blessings that Allah has bestowed upon you. Ponder over them and offer thanks to Allah. Your tongue should remain moist with the remembrance of Allah’s gratitude.
Consider this: if a person reflects on their body from head to toe and thinks about the organs Allah has granted, how they are functioning properly and how healthy they are, these are immense blessings. Be grateful for them. Hazrat (may Allah sanctify his soul) used to say that not a single moment of a person’s life goes by without them receiving some blessing from Allah. We often fail to notice because we have become accustomed to ingratitude and do not focus on the blessings we enjoy. So, pay attention and recognize that these blessings are given to you solely by the grace and mercy of Allah.
