Setting Aside a Portion of Income for Charity: Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Guidance (Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that from your income, set aside a designated portion to be given in charity for the sake of Allah. Depending on your capacity, this could be a tenth or a fifth, or whatever you can manage. Then, whenever you receive your income, take out that specific portion and keep it separate, perhaps in an envelope. Keep adding to this envelope, and it will be a reminder to spend it in a worthy cause.
The blessing of setting it aside will help you spend it more easily when the opportunity arises. Without this habit, one might hesitate, wondering whether or not to give when the moment comes. But when the envelope is there, already containing money for charity, it will remind you, and you won’t need to debate whether to spend. If everyone adopts this practice according to their means, giving (Sadqa) will become easier.
