Prepare for Eid Within Your Income: Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Advice on Halal Earnings and Blessings (Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that wearing good clothes on the day of Eid is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Wearing good clothes means wearing whatever is available within one’s means and affordability. It certainly does not mean taking loans, accepting bribes, or using income from forbidden sources to buy clothes for oneself or one’s family. If one prepares for Eid within the limits of their lawful earnings, Allah will bless and instill light (Noor) in it. Lawful earnings, however little, carry blessings, while forbidden earnings, no matter how abundant, bring misfortune and curses. Such forbidden wealth can sometimes manifest in hardships or even in the form of illnesses.
