Being a servant of AULIYA ALLAH is a great honor (Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
My Sheikh, Hazrat Dr. Abdul Hai Arifi (may Allah sanctify his soul), used to say that today people are chasing after positions, ranks, and honors, even though all worldly positions and ranks are beyond a person’s control.
Even if someone manages to attain such a position, there are many who become envious and seek to pull them down. This is the state of all worldly ranks. But I will tell you about a rank that is within your control to achieve, and that is the rank of being a “servant of Auliya ALLAH” (Khadim).
This rank is such that there is no competition or election for it, no one will be envious of it, and no one will try to take it away from you. Simply consider yourself a servant: a servant of your family, a servant of those around you, a servant of your friends, a servant of your relatives. Service comes in various forms. There is physical service, fulfilling someone’s needs is also service, organizing the education and upbringing of children is service, and giving sincere advice to friends and relatives for their benefit is also a form of service.
The outcome of this service is that pride (Takabbur) will never enter your heart, you will never feel arrogant, and whatever you do will be counted as worship because it is done for the sake of Allah’s pleasure.
