A Worship Free from Restrictions(By Sheikh ul Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti taqi Usmani DB)
It has been advised that if a person sits in a specific place and engages in dhikr (remembrance of Allah), it is a very good practice. One should make time for dhikr, but if at some point, they are unable to sit separately for it, they can do it while walking or moving around. The Qur’an states that no specific conditions have been placed upon you for dhikr—there is no requirement to face the Qiblah, be in a state of wudu (ablution), or sit with special etiquette. There are no such restrictions. Praising the righteous servants of Allah, it is mentioned:
الذین یذکرون اللہ قیٰما وقعودا وعلٰی جنوبھم(اٰل عمران: ۱۹۱)
“Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides.” (Al Imran: 191)
The servants of Allah remember Him in all states. A person can take a Tasbih (prayer beads) in hand as a reminder, and the Tasbih will keep reminding them to continue their dhikr, whether they are walking, moving, or standing.
