Maintaining Your Spiritual Connection with ALLAH After Ramadan: Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Guidance (Malfoozat of Shaykh al-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani)
It was advised that one should not think that since Satan was bound during Ramadan but is now free, the good deeds performed during Ramadan, or the efforts made to avoid sins, should be abandoned after the month ends. May Allah protect us from turning back to our old ways.
While Ramadan involved increased worship, including twenty rak’ahs of Taraweeh, which is not done after Ramadan, other voluntary (Nafl) prayers are still available. Some elders (Auliya ALLAH) have advised that if one prays a few rak’ahs with the intention of Salat al-Layl (night prayer) before Witr after Isha, they will receive the blessings of Tahajjud. It is also narrated in a Hadith that any prayer performed after the obligatory Isha-Farz prayer counts as Salat al-Layl.
Similarly, although we may have recited more Quran in Ramadan, continuing with a reduced amount is still better than abandoning it entirely. It is not appropriate to completely abandon all these practices after Ramadan. Voluntary (Nafl) worship should continue after Ramadan to maintain a strong connection with Allah, along with efforts to avoid sins.
