Example of a Dead House (By Sheikh-ul-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani )
Sheikh-ul-Islam Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani mentions that Hazrat Abu Musa Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet ﷺ said: “The example of the house in which Allah’s remembrance(Dhikrullah) is made and the house in which Allah’s remembrance(Zikrullah) is not made is like the example of the living and the dead.”
This means that the house where Allah’s remembrance is made is alive, and the house where Allah’s remembrance is not made is dead. Just as the living have superiority over the dead, similarly the house in which Allah’s remembrance is made has superiority over the house where remembrance does not occur.
In another Hadith, it is mentioned: “The house in which there is no remembrance is desolate, like a deserted land.” Try to fill your homes with the Dhikr Allah, not just relying on going to the mosque for worship and remembrance. Make an effort to make your homes vibrant with remembrance.
